SCENE 1, INTERIOR. AFTERNOON, CLASSROOM. The class is gone for the day; the teacher is starting to read the students’ journal entries. He notices a boy in his class approaching him out of the corner of his eye.
JOEY: Mr. Z?
TEACHER: [Suddenly looking up]. Make me like you...
JOEY: [Mock exasperation]. I’ve been trying to do that all year…
TEACHER: Well, try harder.
JOEY: [Thinking]. I could go home.
TEACHER: Now THAT just might work.
[The teacher winks as the boy giggles and walks away].
Fade to black.
I don't think Joey has to try too hard to make Mr. Z like him. I'm working ESY now. I just wrote a long letter to a former colleague about our own little "Joey" that we had a few years back. Some days can be frustrating.
ReplyDeleteLOL, that is priceless....U and Joey are bonded for ever.
ReplyDeleteLiar liar pants on fire! Now that he's home.....and school is out...... you miss him! Admit it!! ;)
ReplyDeleteDitto to Rachel's comment, minus the not-so-nice "liar, liar" part. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat Joey has a great sense of humor!
ReplyDeleteAh yes. With my Joeys, if they are late in the morning, there is a glimmer of hope in my heart that I might have a Joey vacation day.
