Tonight is for Exhaustion and Backlinking Posts
No vomiting. No migraines. Just sheer exhaustion.
It passed 11:00 a long time ago, and I should be asleep. After all, I've spent the past two weeks preparing for school. In a sense, I feel like I have been planning a wedding.
Well over a hundred hours for two days: Back to School Night and the first day of school. And no, I don't have a photo of the room after BTS Night…I was too tired to take one so you'll just need to content yourself with this panoramic shot right before the room was flooded with parents and students...
I have nothing funny to say tonight. I have no deep thoughts. I don't even have the strength to finish this sente
You get the point.
I would like to invite you to read THIS, THIS, THIS, and finally THIS. Should you choose not to, I will not be offended. I will not dock you points. I will not look down upon you...
Much.
I know that going to bed tonight will not include sleeplessness - I am far too exhausted for that.
Yet excited, too. I think I'll vomit in my dreams…
You will be totally awesome. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteCool panoramic. Want to come take one of my classroom? Best of luck - why do we still get nervous for the first day of school??
ReplyDeleteI definitely know how u are feeling.. I am not a teacher but have worked as an aide for a few... I've got friends who teach and I know they are joined at the hip w/their classroom.. I have helped endless times stripping down their walls of the work they have done as well as put up their teaching placards...and they all know the janitor all too well...btw, do u have to clean your own room as well? The school district my friend is in, has cut down on the janitor service....
ReplyDeleteHope u got that bucket or are near a toilet in your dreams.....
And for all those people who think it must be nice to have the summer/holidays off, you need to reread this post while remembering, he doesn't get paid overtime for all that he did to get to that point.
ReplyDeleteYour name picture plaque is awesome!
ReplyDeletethank heavens the first day just comes once a year. Hopefully all the prep work will pay off.
ReplyDeleteReporting for full credit, TF. There's nothing like a good dose of your writing to bask in after getting the munchkins off to their first day of school. They were/are excited as you are....minus any vomitting too! It's going to be a great year.
ReplyDeleteI need to tell my son that teachers get nervous too... he only vomited all weekend and once last night. sigh. He did leave with a smile on his face this morning though. I hope your day is full of smiles.
ReplyDeleteWhat I wouldn't give to be a student in your class. Given your total amazingness as a person - I can just imagine what a great teacher you are.
ReplyDeleteYour kids are so lucky to have you!
Good luck with a new school year! I can only imagine how exhausting it is getting everything ready!
ReplyDeleteYou rock!
Nothing funny and no deep thoughts... Sounds like one of my posts.
ReplyDeleteI hope the parents and the students someday know how lucky they are to have such a dedicated teacher. I sure know how lucky I am to have such a dedicated blogger.
Btw, the Zimmerman sign is way cool.

Haha. That is great. Just reading your post reminded me of how tired I am today. Sigh....
ReplyDeletefirst day of school killed me this year... doesn't make any sense since I'm officially back to being a SAHM... what was to stress about?
ReplyDeleteand I'm FINALLY catching up on blogs - now if I can just find some funny in my exhaustion the world will be good again.
Oh, I get it! I will be there...NEXT wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI was directed to your blog. Glad I came.
ReplyDeleteYour classroom is so neat and clean. Hopefully it will still look that way by the end of the week.
Have a great beginning of the year!
You make me want to be a teacher.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'm going to read those links because I always kissed up to my teachers.
Hello, I'm new to your blog. I'll have to check out the recommended links you posted to browse around.
ReplyDeleteMy mom is a 5th grade teacher. This summer the school renovated her building - all new floors, new cabinets, no sink, etc. Nice, right?
The only down side is ~ the rooms weren't ready for the teachers to move all their things back into the rooms until the DAY BEFORE school started! Love the system, really...
I'm finally catching up on your blog. This blog says it all! Tired and exhausted!
