Hope of America - Year II

A year ago I blogged about my first time taking part in the Hope of America program. In retrospect, it would be a waste of my limited time to repeat this same information all over again – especially when one could simply click here and read it over themselves, see the photos, and find out about the program I was able to take part in.

With this in mind, I will instead refrain from talking about last year’s program, and focus on this year’s instead.

It was amazing.

There is something to be said of taking part in such an event with thousands of others; namely, sharing a love for this wonderful country in which we live.

I wish I could have bottled up the emotion and the feeling that was there this past Wednesday evening – something that words alone could never accurately portray.

They just can’t.

Just know that the Hope of America was fantastic. If you’ve never before gone – and you have the means – I would highly recommend attending next year. I do wish to include two video clips a friend took for me (even after no training on how to work the camera).

Though video cannot do the program justice, it gives you just a taste of what the program was really like.

These were two of my three favorites; just look for the guy in yellow, row two, at 1:26 in the first video. Yeah, it's yours truly...

Hey! We were there on the same night! My son was one of the ones down on the floor. I love this program. It's so cool. That "We can be a light" chokes me up every time.

The whole program did my patriotic heart good. Watching that living American flag truly buoyed up my hope in America's future. Thanks for posting the videos.

This was awesome! Totally gave me goosebumps. My son sang that first song in a school program once and it's been one of my favorite patriotic songs ever since.

Really cool, man. Thanks for sharing. I've never heard of this before. My personal American hope is to find a full-time writing job and get off unemployment before we ring in 2011 :( ***WILLING TO RELOCATE!!***

Thanks for posting Hope of America! It brought back that "feel good feeling" as I attended that night! Sitting by your videographer, I know how nervous "they' were about taking something worthwhile and not messing up your camera! There is "hope in America" when schools can still sing about "liberty & freedom; about letting their light shine; and caring for others as we are all God's children." Carry on!

Cool - amazingly I could pick you out of the crowd - OK, it was because the camera person zoomed in. (:

I'm so glad you guys do this. I love that the school plays the national anthem and the kids get to say the pledge of allegance. Gaining a love for this country and for all those who have helped create it as well as those who keep it safe is so important. I hope my twins are blessed enough to be in your class next year and get to experience this as well as your talent for teaching. Keep up the GREAT work you do!!!

L - Youbetcha. It is something I wish everybody could experience.

C - Marriott Center at BYU.

S - I THOUGHT I saw you…okay, I didn't, but it's pretty cool to realize that we were both there. I would say maybe next year, but who knows?

N - Doesn't it just bring a thrill of excitement?

R - He repeatedly told me just how hungry he was, as if I could do something about that in the middle of the performance. It made me laugh.

MS - It was amazing.

C - Me, or the whole experience? Never mind, it was probably both. I tend to have that affect on people.

C - I wholeheartedly agree.

T - It always gives me this 'patriotic thrill' when I hear it, too.

A - I would love to be a full-time writer, only I don't think that I have the patience. I love my job too much…most days.

J - I'm glad the videographer didn't freak out too much. They did a great job.

And thanks for stopping by.

N - I'll probably have to do it again next year…

B - Yeah, I didn't know what the video was going to have to it; I liked it.

Now you know that I'm a real person and not imply a computer-generated hologram.

V - I think every person should be able to attend something like this. It leaves you with a feeling of gratitude for this country in which we live.

J - Cameras just seem to do that around me…

F - Whether or not they're in my class next year we will be taking part in the HoA again as a grade level; they'll have this amazing experience.

And thanks.
