It’s Finally Over

Pin It She was the music of my life, and after what I thought was a beautiful three-year relationship, it abruptly ended.

There was no notice whatsoever; there was no forewarning. In fact, one moment she was there, nestled close and the next she was gone. After all of our good times together, it was like awakening from bad dream.

I panicked.

I searched frantically high and low, retracing my steps and the places we’d just been, but she was nowhere in sight. I even checked at the police station, but it was no avail.

She was missing.

The sergeant on duty informed me that in cases like this, the outlook usually isn’t good. I was recommended to simply forget ever finding her again and simply moving on.

My home was silent.

My life seemed strangely empty.

I decided that it was finally time that I move on, so I checked into one of those online sites.

You know the type…

I perused the profiles long into the night before finally making a decision.

She is being sent from China as we speak.

She will be here in a week.

Photos can make such a difference in a post, can't they? Here is the same post, but with photos to help supplement the text:

P.S. On the bright side I did find my camera battery charger I lost last summer, my favorite tie I misplaced three or four weeks ago, and the headlamp I forgot I even owned.

Haha, I knew exactly where this post was going after your comment on mine last week. Nice though! :)

Bummer that the oldie is gone for good, but at least you'll have a new toy soon! Which one did you decide on?

This just made me smile. The P.S. has me laughing!

Ha! Maybe if you loose your belt, you'll find it.

Pictures really do make a difference.

I love that the replacement is going from China to Alaska. That's not random at all.

I mysteriously lost my iPod a few months back and come to find out.... my kids had thrown it around their room, broke it, and then stashed the evidence in the trash can. So, it seems to be that I unknowingly dumped a dear companion with my scraps and wrappers. Bummer. Life goes on. Hope your new friend arrives soon.

I was guessing you'd misplaced your phone... but it was SO worth re-reading it with the pictures :)

on a positive note... my wedding ring had been lost for 3 years before we bought a new one... which I misplaced within the week... and while looking for the NEW one - I found the old one... and then a few of the fakes I'd bought along the way... and then finally the new one.

funny, ManOfTheHouse was NOT amused.

What a touching story!

;)

PS. Glad you're getting your tunes back...

OH but think of all the fun you are going to have programing the new one and deciding which 'love ones' as in songs make the cut for the new one. If we don't see you here in a long time we'll know your new love affair is in full swing.
Oh and you're right, pictures make all the difference in the world. Well that and context clues ;o)

Loved this and glad a new love is on its way. What a fun life to have old things turn up on a regular basis!

Phew, well, u almost had me going to 'that place'... lol... I don't own an Ipod, yeah, I know strange but I don't... After hearing about the dangers of those ipods, it kinda spooked me and yes, I know u have to blast them for any damage, but hey. I'm ok w/not having one.. But, I know the panicked feeling of losing something and worse someone...

Um yeah. In this case, a picture is worth way MORE than 1000 words.

Looks like I need to lose something important, maybe I will be able to find my camera cord.

Very enjoyable the first time 'round and since I know you so well, ;) I knew what kind of mail order 'bride' you were after but having the photos added made it even funner.

Congratulations by the way, on finding your other things that were lost!

In the dozen iPods that have floated in and out of our family, two of them have been 'lost' (aka, left somewhere they weren't supposed have been left) - one of them being an iTouch. It truly is an intense feeling of panic...like a part of you is gone. I feel your pain...and I am relieved for your remedy.

Sorry to hear of your loss, however, I'm sure you'll love your new iPod.

My son lost his first iPod, we're pretty sure that it dropped down inside the back of the couch, but not sure enough to pull the fabric off of the bottom of the couch to retrieve it.
He got a newer, better one for his birthday anyway.

I have one that you can have. I got ride of her awhile back and just want to get rid of her.

I'm so glad you went with the iPod and not the mail order bride. I can call off the intervention now.

I am so sorry - I am familiar with that pain :(

I still keep hoping that when I finally go through all of my stuff (no small feat considering all the boxes of crap I have in the basement) that my old camera will magically reappear and we will dance the dance of joy....

Yeah, hoping doesn't mean it is meant to be. Sometimes we just need to take the memories of the good times we've had and move on.

I am happy that you decided to go ahead and get another IPod though.... did you go with the old style or did you upgrade to the Touch?

I love that you tricked me, at first I thought you were writing about a break-up, then I thought you were writing about a lost pet, mostly because I didn't think you would order a replacement for a relationship online. Very good example of how easily things can be misinterpreted.

Such losses are devastating. Thank goodness for mail-order love.

Lose your ipod? That is more than just a little sad. Love the photos with the story. Especially the one with the rain drops on the window. Love that one

I have a horrible tendency to lose things.... Hence I'm on my 4th iPhone is 3 years. Yes...I too...lost my iPod from 3 years ago. I just bought a new (orange) Nano two months ago to replace it.

And....I currently just misplaced a diamond necklace....last week :( Awesome.

Geeezzzzz.... I blame it on my boys for the lapses in my memory and mind.

Oh the heartbreak! I know it well. Luckily, I was reunited with my lost love and didn't have to go through that awkward yet somewhat exciting, get-to-know-you process again. I hope you are as happy in this new relationship as you were in the first.

And stories with pictures always rock.

sheeesh.....you had me there for a moment, thinking some deep meaningful relationship had ended.

I just got my hubby an IPOD for Christmas....first one ever.

you'll have sweet sweet music again soon

Great post, especially with pictures! I hope she isn't put on a slow boat from China! You need music in your life. Glad you found your camera battery and ties!

My hope and wish is that your new companion will be at least half as loyal and loving as your last. Have you considered that your last companion may have run off with a much richer man? Or, more likely, a bad boy thief?
