Each year I work hard to try to get the students in my class to all like each other, to be more than just a classroom but instead a small community. Tonight I was just checking my email and saw that I'd received a note from one of my students:

Subject: You made me despise summer
MR. Z
It's only Saturday and I'm already super mad that school's out for three months! literally, you don't know how badly I want to reverse time... all my friends at Amelia are out of reach for playing stuff. I'm crying while I write this I'm so miserable!!!!!!! I've never had so many friends in my entire life!!!!!! Stay in contact so I don't get crazy over the summer.
From,
Joey
I think this is truly a sign that this was a successful year.

I know of a certain soon to be student who when she saw who her teacher was for the fall jumped up and down excited and said she wished there wasn't summer break and she could start school RIGHT NOW!
I promptly slapped and knocked some sense into her.....
I remember my sr. year in h.s. I took a literature course that opened my eyes.. Rather it was the teacher that introduced authors I would not of normally read.. She was not a conventional teacher- I read Langston Hughes, Richard Wright, just to name a few.. The discussions were great because she showed her passion for the authors she had us read.. If I could I would of taken every course she taught...I definitely understand what Joey is feeling.
You done good.
Ahh, Joey. It's sad to see him go.
thumbs up Mr Z :)
I gotta tell you that is AMAZING. I hated school so very much, Sunday's I had chronic sick stomach. The entire month of August I dreaded returning back to school. Man, wish I had teachers like you.

This makes me happy and sad at the same time.
I said it before and I'll say it again. This is just more proof that you are an awesome teacher.

That is, indeed, the sign of a successful year!
Wow! What a great teacher you are. I know I tell you that every time!
Truly a sign of a teacher who cares about his students welfare!
the kind of year and teacher every parent wishes for their child.
High five to another successful year in the books! Way to go Z- you truly rock!
This just makes me smile. You know you've done well when the kids are sad to see summer arrive.
I was always a little sad when the school year was over. You better stay in contact. Don't want a crazy Joey.
