There are at times, reminders we get which can illustrate the power that our example truly holds for others around us. For my students I always try to set the best example that I can…after all, I know that they are always watching.
You might find a part or two of this slightly disturbing. Take this into consideration before pressing the 'play' button...

Modeling really is one of the best ways kids shape behaviors....unfortunately some they shouldn't.
Too much anger in the world today.
That kid smoking was truly disturbing.
I wish that video had some positive examples at the end. Very disturbing to watch. I prefer to teach my kids by not only telling them what not to do but by giving them examples of what to do. Positive examples at the end of that video would have done just that.
I totally agree that kids learn to be who they are by what they see around them. Once started, breaking the chain of violence is so hard.
very powerful video! thank you for sharing that. I've got a few parents of my first graders that need to watch that!!!
That movie made me really emotional. Probably the part of that momma yelling at the baby...I have no tolerance for abuse. That said, how true that message is. We are the model for our children. I need to take a closer look at what behavior I am modeling for my children.
I really like your blog, by the way. Good stuff!!
Excellent choice this week. So much truth in this one...
Children see. Children do. So true. Although I did giggle when I saw the little boy flipping the bird. I'm bad. Thanks for the reminder.
You're right about it being disturbing...watching that boy ready to hit a woman (shudders). I was happy to see the positive example at the end. Sadly some people would see this and not be bothered in the least....
wow! very powerful. I am definitely sharing this. thanks
This is so very true. In fact this was something that was part of a Sunday discussion that we had.
I try REALLY hard to act decent but I'm not perfect.
I also try to catch my children doing good.
I too wish they would put one out that shows the positive ways that kids can be influenced.
kind of like those insurance commercials?
I had to shut my eyes at the crying baby and I still cried.
Ever since my kids learned how to talk, my husband and I discouraged them to say the two ugliest words in the human language (in my opinion anyway), "hate" and " stupid". They're teen agers now, and they still won't say those words.
Thanks for the reminder of how much our kids really are our "mini me's".
Thanks for sharing that. The most disturbing for me was when the boy went in to punch his Mom. Ugh!
Two thumbs up because it makes you think and re-evaluate yourself in a good way.
Thank heaven for the good examples in my own kid's lives.
BTW- Tammy, I laughed too. Of course, I followed it with now some poor parent is going to have to deal with their kid flipping the bird at everyone because he got to do it in a commercial. Anyway, I'm glad I'm not the only bad one out here in cyberland.
these are the type of videos that especially get me: 1) there is an awful animal scene 2) I know full well from having taught that children do learn what they see and most of the time the behavior they notice is not what should be modeled *ahem*
Thanks for swinging by Any Given Moment.
Your right- I, like cornbread, am "good" ;) and for that compliment and since I taught fourth for a year before moving on to kindergarten during my educatin' days, I will follow you.
This was a very disturbing video. I had a hard time watching it.
I gave you an award on my blog yesterday. I couldn't recall if I let you know or not.
Even though this video is very true, I had a hard time watching it. I had seen it before but forgotten most of it. Good video for self reflection- so very important to lead by example.
So true. That's just what I was talking about in my post yesterday. I'm so blessed to have had the parents I do! Sounds like you are in the same boat. I wish more of my kids had that at home.
Now you see why I had the 'warning' at the beginning. The thing I really love is the moment of hope at the end.
As disturbing as this video is (it's powerful) nothing is more disturbing then seeing things you don't like about yourself in your own kids. It truly is a wake up call. At least it is for me.....and I would hope other parents.
On the other hand.....there is the good things we as parents see too, and it gives us hope that we're not completely bumbling up our kids.
That was so depressing.
Thank God for the promise of hope t the end...
People need to see this,though.
Thank you
That seriously gave me chills. SO sad, and so true.
Thanks for posting.
