Weekly Kodachrome - Boys will be Boys

I garnered the idea of sharing weekly photo from The Coffee Shop - of an image I took of something that made me smile in the past seven days. I was thinking of earlier this week when I was taking a circular saw back to a friend, and saw a group of neighborhood boys who had found a shopping cart; being boys, they decided to come up with their own form of hooky-bobbing, extreme sporting, or whatever you would like to call it.

My favorite part was the elbow and knee pads - along with the skating helmet - to guard against injuries as ‘the extremist’ held on as the cart’s sides as it spun in an arc with a grinding of hard, rubber tires on blistering asphalt.

Really I’m surprised that nobody died.

And somewhere a mother got her first gray hair! Boys are crazy! :) I have a couple of favorites of my crazy boy from this week, but nothing uploaded to link to yet.

This is AWESOME! Maybe I'll have to show them how to ride a big wheel off of a trailer. Now that is dangerous (for an old gal like me)!! Hahahah!

Love it. Never been a boy, but grew up with 5 bros and an athletic sis and we did our share of crazy things too.

Made me :) too.

This absolutely made me smile and cringe all at the same time, but I love it!

LOL! Only Nat's boys!!! :D (I'm sure mine would NEVER do something as outrageous as this.)

Love it! Looks all too familiar! My oldest son took his baby brother for a ride in the laundry basket that was hooked to the back of his bike by a rope. By the time the joy ride was over, the laundry basket had a hole in the bottom of it and so did the baby's diaper! Good think he stopped when he did!
Great photo!

Perfect title for this shot. You must be just a big boy yourself because you stood by and took photos instead of stopping them. :)

Oh wonderful. I can just imagine this will be my boys in the next few years. The question I have is: Is that mother in the background cheering them on or scolding them for doing something so...well...boyish? Haha. Great picture!

As a mother of two boys, I look at that picture and think "thank goodness my kids aren't the only ones who do crazy stuff like that!"

What a fun to surprise to find at the end of a long day!
This is my favorite picture because of the look of concentration on his face and his tongue sticking out the side- classic!
Can I just answer a few of your commenters? Thanks. :)

@Laura Anne, It may have added a few more grays, definitley not my first- he has an older brother that provided that.
@Stef, What you can't see are my crossed fingers and praying lips...

Thanks TF, it made me, and a few other members of my family, smile big time.

That sounds like a lot of fun.

I think the question this post left me with was...what were you doing with a circular saw?

Hilarious. I am a fourth grade teacher, and I am assuming by your blog title that you are too. I came by way of Wendy from NO BOTOX ALLOWED and enjoyed your comment to her! NOW AS FOR THE BOYS....they are my favorite. I love the girls, don't get me wrong. But the ingenuity of the male mind puts MY female mind in a spin and I just love it. I sure wish my school had more male TEACHERS; I love my boys and even though i am a petticoat wearing, pearl and heel sportin' teacher, I will get down and do push ups, throw a football and engage in manly conversations about hockey scores and listen to their exploits on the baseball field. I love it all.

Have a great SUMMER BREAK! Anita

I'm surprize that there isn't a ramp in the photo. Now that would be interesting: taking the shopping cart on a ramp, well actually off, vroom!

That is awesome.

I see you around on my buddies blogs (i.e. Pedaling, Tammy, and Mcat). Coffee Shop blog is the bomb. Hope you don't mind if I read your blog. You have some good stuff. LOVE this photo of the boys in the shopping cart!

Gotta love boys and their "lack of knowledge regarding danger" (tee, hee)
Reminded me of one time while I was stuck in the airport in Vegas.....it was getting very late, and so to pass the time, a group of young male adults got the luggage carts and were having their own drag races. It made everyone laugh...and forgot for a moment the drudgery of waiting for a plane.

Oh Wendy was right; she directed me to you Moments with Joey and I loved it. Thank you also for visiting today and have a RESTFUL SUMMER! I also see you like the movies HOT FUZZ and SIXTH SENSE; I love those movies and my husband and I watch them all the time. He to is a university prof and enjoys playing the guitar while I play the harp. Small world! Anita

That is a great representation of boys being boys. A little bit of danger, a little bit of fear, and a lot of fun and adventure.

This photo made me smile, too --although I can smile, because my son's not the one in the shopping cart! =)

What a great photo! Fantastic!

I took a picture of a big, white bird swimming on the pond by my house. If I remember to upload it, I'll post a link.
