On Stage

I went to a recital tonight. I watched the performers as they played out their well-rehearsed pieces. I found myself surrounded by music; an entire album playing without the aid of electricity or speakers.

I listened.

It’s strange how a song can evoke emotions from deep within. How it can link us to a fleeting moment of time. How it binds us to others. How it keeps us young. A simple fingering of notes on the keys speaks a story, a fleeting wave can speak volumes. A smile can brighten a room.

I gazed at these young performers as they played; my emotions were brought very close to my eyes.

Ah, music.

Nothing like a good instrumental piece to move the soul.

A beautiful story was told tonight; awe inspiring really. Especially with that last number; there were misty eyes all around.

Beautiful!

Just SO said...

Music often brings my emotions close to my eyes. So close that the emotion spills over. I love music.

That was lovely. The effect was only slightly spoiled by the fact that I was reading and cackling over your instructional piece below.

It was awesome having 'family' at the recital last night. Thanks Uncle Rush for coming. :D

I've been trying all day to upload video to my blog and ARRRRGH! Blogger is being stubborn and WON'T! Still trying......

The Natives worked hard for months on those pieces. I was excited that they pulled off the "Rubow Five" number. That was an addition kind of at the last minute. Kind of a proud momma moment seeing them all up there together playing. Wrapping the melody around each other and pulling us all in with them.

Family. It's where it's all at and about ya know? Glad you let us adopt you into ours. Not that you had a choice. :D

I try to make the best of each new day... and now being retired I enjoy working on the house and listening to my new Bose system. Nothing like good tunes that can set the mood.
