Canyons

Pin It Strains of Billy Joel accompanied me as I drove along Alpine Loop’s twisting and tendrilish roadway—switchbacks hugging the mountains to the east of Timpanogos; traveling amongst the brightly-lit fireworks display of autumn which once-again graced the threshold of that place where summer departs and fall begins.

The waning day’s light was subdued as it reached over the distant hills, finally winking out of view to whisper back the night.

The world is content, and so am I.

…and life is good.

Nice pics, esp. the self portraits they are fun. Glad you got out to enjoy fall, you gotta love it.

You taking pictures of yourself in the car while you're driving (and the car is moving) gave me a chuckle this morning. Thanks! Beautiful pictures. Most of our trees are still green in this part...

Wow, these autumn colors are fantastic. I need a road trip to break up my routine. Think I will drive up to Ione next Saturday as the colors are starting to change. Maybe I will take the train scenic trip from Ione to Metaline Falls?

Great photos! I love that wink :D I agree... Life is very good!

Fall is my favorite time of year. I am anxious to see the changing colors of leaves over here. Nice photos! :D

Awesome post and incredible photos! I was going to commend you for keeping your eyes on the road in the first photo of you and then I saw the second. :)

Given how narrow that road is and the amount of traffic it saw last Saturday I am surprised you risked moving shots from the car! Still laughing that we were both on the loop at the same time without knowing it....

Allentown and Alpine Loop in Autumn. Does it get any better than that?!

You daredevil, you! The shot was worth the risk, though. ;) Love the last two, in particular. Gorgeous colors. Almost more than I love the pics, though, is the phrase "traveling amongst the brightly-lit fireworks display of autumn which once-again graced the threshold of that place where summer departs and fall begins." Perfection.

I love all of the fall colors. Thanks for sharing your, as usual, amazing photos. After seeing these, I really need to take a trip up the canyon.

N - It was a great day...I'm glad I ended up there on a photoshoot for someone else.

B - What can I say? I've got skills. I can also walk and chew gum on most days, too.

D - Do it; there's nothing like getting out.

C - I love autumn as well, I just don't relish in winter.

K - Nah, you just need to wait until there isn't any other traffic and then you'd be fine.

L - I wish I'd have stopped and taken a few others along the way, but I was on a mission...

S - Small world, isn't it?

G - I'm all about alliteration; especially without realizing it.

L - It's just that time of year; I love it...words just can't seem to truly do it justice either, you know? However, how can one compete with Halloween?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

I didn't get a chance to drive that loop this year. And after today I don't think it will be open again until Spring.

I love the fall colors. And the self portraits. You are braver than I!

You just HAD to mention the winter... didn't you?

I really don't relish the cold in winter either... but I do relish going snow sledding! :D

We have a local hill here called Cherry Hill which we love to sled on (during school, when few others are there! :D he he!) (It's safer when there aren't over 100 others on it too!)

Hopefully you can find something to love about winter too!

S - The self-portraits just take a steady hand; I'll bet you'd be skilled at it.

C - Faux pas on my part. I have to admit that I don't enjoy the cold all too much either, but the sooner we get it over with the sooner we get back to spring.

BTW, Christmas is to love about winter, right?
