I always find it interesting to watch the people who are around me. There always seems to be such a huge variety of of them when you're at the airport; a veritable smorgasbord of ethnicities, ages, styles, and attitudes. Sometimes I wonder about their stories. For instance, take the Asian woman waiting alone wearing the Lucy-Lu sunglasses and sporting the pink bag. There’s also the man hovering over his laptop with the makeshift antennae—one that MacGyver would most certainly be proud of. Or even the creepy-looking older man who I’d noticed was staring at me until I glanced in his direction—and who then looked away.
Each of these people around me has an entire lifetime of experiences and moments. Each of them has a story inside of them - and all of these are different. And yet, here we are, hundreds of individual people who will soon be sharing the common a event of traveling to someplace other than right here where we are.
Funny how something like this makes me feel just a bit closer to some of these folks—the creepy man? No, not him.
Did I mention that I was frisked when I passed though security? The first time this happened wasn’t too long after 9-11, and airport security was at the zenith of its operations. To shake off my embarrassment that day I joked; I said that I usually didn’t win contests, and I felt that I was the lucky winner that particular day. Oh, if only everyone in line were as lucky as I was.
The funny thing was, I really didn’t feel that way at first, but after joking about it, I suddenly realized that attitude was indeed everything and I really did feel like a winner. Attitude helped again this time, too.
You see, I won again today.

Hot

I think this photo sums up nicely what it is like here in Hurricane, Utah. I am wondering if I'll even want to head out deep into the desert...probably not, after all, I'm pretty sure I saw a person melt today. All I know is one minute they were there, the next there was this blotchy puddle with burning clothes in it. By the way, when I say ‘hot’ I’m referring solely to temperature...not my physical appearance.

Tomorrow morning (before sunrises) I'm headed up to a ghost town, as well as Kolob Canyon. I plan to be gone the whole day, however, I will merely do what I feel tomorrow. Today was a day like this, and though I took several photos, attended a birthday celebration, and had a fun time visiting with friends, I also took a nap (something I haven't done in a long time) and slept away12 of the last 24 hours.

I guess it was sorely needed.

Leaving
Pin It
I have decided to leave.
Where am I going?
I don’t know.
When will I be back?
Not sure of that just yet.
Will I blog while I am gone?
Probably, provided that there is Internet access where it is I end up going. If it’s out in the desert, probably not. If it is in Hurricane,
Until then…

Windows open and music on

However, Barry Manilow just won’t quite cut it.
I drove to work today. As I did, I cranked Avril Lavigne’s song, “My World,” on the stereo. It was a good driving song…the type you listen to with the windows down, and the wind blowing in your face.
I also recommend “Dancing in the Moonlight” by the Baha Men.However, Barry Manilow just won’t quite cut it.
