Do you remember?

Pin It It was probably a long time ago for you; at least it was for me.

I had gotten up on that Christmas Eve because I had heard noises in the living room: voices, movement, and a general air of trying to be quiet.

I eased out of bed, and with carpeted footfalls, slipped from my bedroom and peeked into the dimly-lit living room—ignited with the lights which festooned the evergreen with its homemade decorations and the plate of treats left out on an endtable for the late-night visitor.

What I saw that fateful night haunts me still. It was then that I knew, knew mind you. It was like a little part of me died at that moment of time; a euphorian wonder was forever lost.

Thanks for ruining it for the rest of us. ;)

I guess it is true, all good things must come to an end...

Which part was ruin, the part where they took off their masks or the part that Chewbacka is wearing make-up?

Well. I WAS having a good day. But the beginning of this post brought it all back. That fateful day in the school lunchroom when the big kids decided I needed to know 'the truth' and me defending the big guy. The more I defended, the more the tears flowed because I knew in my gut what they were saying was true but I didn't want to believe them. I didn't want the magic to end. Especially that way.

And now, once again, this big kid has to go and show me a photo. I refuse to believe it! I REFUSE! It's totally photo shopped. You can't fool me!

Where did you find such a blasphemous photo? It's not real, I tell you. Totally photoshopped.

I've always loved peeking "behind the curtain".... seeing how stuff is really done. Who "the big guy" really was. It may have burst the bubble but I found "how they did it" much more interesting.

LOL - How. dare. you. show. that. lying. photo!?! IT'S NOT TRUE! I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT! Chewy is real!!!

OK - I'll calm down now.

As far as the other subject goes, I do remember. Luckily for me it was a much more positive experience than the one you had. I just thought it was cool that my dad was Santa! Maybe I'll write about it. :) Thanks for the memory jog!

PS Sorry about your traumatic experience. Hopefully it won't haunt you for too many more years to come! ;)

What do you think you saw under the tree? Your parents? Well, of course--parents get you Christmas gifts too, you know. Santa comes after that...cause everyone has to be sleeping before he comes.

And this Star Wars picture? That's easy to explain to. It's a bunch of kids getting ready to go trick-or-treating. Their costumes are okay, I guess. I could probably do better.

I actually don't remember. It must not have been too traumatic. But finding out that the characters on shows and movies I love are not real? Now, that's traumatic! I am saving myself for Jack Shephard, Seely Booth or Tony Almeida. They're real (and available), I'm sure of it.

Aw hell...it's all over for you now - If I were you, I would never attempt to believe in inconceivable creatures again...it's not worth the let down!! :-)

Nice photoshop job. How did you get it all to look so real?

Personally I prefer to know than to wonder, that way there are no surprises... good think I already knew about Chewy...

Did you hear that?? That was my heart breaking. You should have put a warning at the beginning of this post ;)
