Media of the Week - He's My Brutha

Pin It I was thinking of my family yesterday.

I really found myself missing them, too.

It’s funny because I can’t even remember the time that I saw my sister, Miya. All I know is that it was a long time ago.

Time goes steadily onward and days become weeks. Weeks become months. Months—if we’re not careful—can become years.

I called my brother and sister-in-law last night. It was great to hear their voices again. Granted, I just saw them this past Thanksgiving, but it was great to talk to them about what was going on in their lives and the most current events.

As I drove the byways and streets to arrive at my final destination last night—a rendezvous with a few friends—we filled each other in on the various happenings and happenstances of our lives.

Some minutes later when I finally hung up the phone, I can’t tell you how much I wanted to hop a plane and fly to New York.

I love my family so much, and my brother is simply awesome; here is just one of the reasons…

By the way, Yancy is the one singing. I thought I’d mention that just in case you didn’t know.

I've been feeling much the same. It is so hard when I've so many siblings and we live so far away from each other.... Family Reunions. Make it a mandatory every other year type of thing......

If it weren't for family reunions, there would be some family members I wouldn't ever see probably.......

Time does seem to fly quickly by, rushing headlong forward and carrying us along in its wake.

Sometimes it is nice to pause and take a moment to reconnect with those who are far from us in distance, though not in heart. I'm glad you had a chance to visit with Yancy and Leah. Hope all is well with them.

Thanks again for sharing these moments.

( And thanks for sharing that little snippet of song. Yancy's got some pipes! Wow! Awesome! )

Familie ties are the Best Ever. I miss my kids and grandkids all the time.
I need to do a better job of visiting my mom and dad (they live 4 hours away) as dad's health is failing, and well...I don't want the days, weeks, months to pass and find myself saying "I wish I would have gone for that visit"

Yancy (great name) sounds great. Loved it.

Ever since I fell of the face of the blogging world, I have truly only missed a handful of blogs, yours being one of them. This is the first thing I've read of yours in months, and I'm glad I did. I can totally relate to what you wrote. I miss my family soooo much right now!

Also, the song Yancy's singing is one of my personal favorites, and is on the lullaby setlist each night for my girls. Maybe I need to find a beatboxer to accompany me instead. ;) That vid made me smile. :)

Take care, and I'll be lurking the next few days, trying to catch up with the amazing Mr. Z. :)

She's right. It is cool!
It is hard when family is far away and you can't see them as often as you like.
