Hot Lava Morning

Do you remember back to the days when you would leap from the pieces of furniture in your house to avoid the floor, which was made completely out of ‘hot lava’? It seems that everyone knows what you’re talking about when you say ‘hot lava,’ don’t they? We never played ‘cold lava,’ either; it always had to be hot. Of course, if it were ‘cold lava’ we'd simply call it rock jumping…or parkour.

I woke this morning to the strangest feeling—like back in the days when I’d played that game as a kid. It was hastened even further when my friend’s kids began to play ‘lava monster’ throughout their house. As their screams and laughter filled the air I was taken back.

I guess every boy (and probably girl) has played this game at one time; sometimes, I miss the days when you could play like this and not worry about breaking the furniture.

I still play that game at night, only it's called, "Jump into bed before the Boogey Man gets ya"! You start at the door and leap as far and as fast as you can across the room into bed. The idea being to touch as little ground as possible and don't even think about letting your foot dangle on the side of the bed. That's when it gets snatched up!!!

Just make sure you have your "lava resistant" socks on... otherwise... you're a goner.

It would be nice every once in awhile to be able to take a step back in time to revisit moments like these.

the only thing better than "Hot Lava" is "Hot Lava Tag".
I say screw breaking the furniture! Let's live a little, laugh a little freer and be like kids again!
TAG! You are it! :)

I didn't play this game in Ireland, but I am sure we played plenty like them. You are right sometimes that idea of just jumping around, and not worrying about breaking furniture is paramount.

Have a great week.

you're funny.
i still don't understand ISO.
perhaps i'm just more afraid of MANUAL or even P-mode? than i am of hot lava.

guess what?!
we have 7 degrees of separation.
my BFF is taneil serr, from IF. her MIL is Lane- your estranged aunt. ha! my friend's husband's cousin reads my blog and saw your comments and said that she knew you! isn't that funny?!! by the way-- you would really love their family, if you want to reconnect. (i think adam serr is your cousin or 2nd cousin fifth removed or something like that.)

i feel like we should sing "Haven't i seen that smile somewhere before?" it's a small, Mormon world.

I have to say that my kids have been playing this almost daily for the last few months! It's quite funny to see what they come up with. :)
