If it helps, my professors frequently use the phrase "We are going to have a come to Jesus talk." Higher education seems to walk all over that fine like of separating church and state.
Sure it helps that you are a likable teacher so you won't have to write on the chalkboard a hundred times that you won't use WWJD on the playground.
Oh I had a major slip and it was caught on film. The girls were playing soccer and wearing their white shirts. I was saying go girls, go white but I was getting so excited I blurt out Go white girls! We were in a tournament in the south of the USA. I wanted to crawl under the bench. Lucky for me everyone knows me and that I would never say anything like that or intentionally hurt anyone in anyway with words. They are the worst weapons ever!
L - I'm grateful that I'm spared the 100 times of writing on the blackboard. As for the professor, being in higher education, they probably have a lot more leeway than most do in education.
C - Glad to know that I'm not the only one in the faux pas boat of utterment.
M - Ugh! I could see that this would be a situation where one would want to crawl under the bleachers even though no disrespect was intended.
I wish you didn't have to worry about that at all. I think it was handled wonderfully.
And I wish you had been on the playground that my son has been on these last few weeks. Then maybe I wouldn't have had to write an email to the principal about my son getting pushed down at recess.
Actually......it makes me feel good knowing that there are teachers out on the playground that make that kind of slip. It's a good thing. I promise.
When the gospel is our lives and so much a center of our universe it is hard not to mention it a time or two or three.....as Mr. Cox can attest. Our SEP's with Levi I am always having to retrace things I say because I'm mixing religon with school but when my life is religious.....it is of course going to mix into other areas of my life so I am glad that you did what Jesus would do!
Man! I wish we lived in a society where talking religion wasn't an issue at all. People could just do it without worrying about who they're offending.
Most religions have a good effect (no matter WHO is worshiped). Most religions aim for a higher/better self where kindness and thoughtfulness is the main goal.
I don't stress when someone wished me "Happy Holidays" or "Happy Hanukkah" at Christmas time. I return a "Merry Christmas" right back at them. Demonstrates what we each believe in.. no offense taken.

S - I can't stand bullying anyplace...wish I HAD been there.
R - Now, if I could just do that in ALL areas of my life then things would be REALLY good...
Sigh......don't we all Mr.Z....don't we all........
Yeah, I guess a lot of us do.

FS - I guess it's good that for the most part, we can do that here...in some places that is most definitely faux pas.
