Making Magic - The Blogger Challenge

Everybody loves comments. Everybody loves to see that somebody else has subscribed to his or her blog. Everybody loves to see that they’re being followed (in a totally non-creepy way via Blogger…not in real life by the mustached man driving in a windowless van).

So, to help us all feel the magic and live the dream, here’s the deal.

I would like to challenge you to do two things. Firstly, make a comment on this post, indicating that you’ve been here. Then secondly, click over to two others’ sites via the link on their comments, leaving a comment on their site as well.

Heaven knows we all love to find out that somebody else is reading over what we’ve written, and appreciates us for doing it.

Let’s spread a little blogger magic this week, shall we?

By the way, if you’re the first few people to comment on this post, return in a few hours/days to check out a few others’ blogs as well…you never know, you just might find your newest favorite blogger—only you never knew that they existed up until now.

I guess I'll be the first. :) I'll be checking back, but until then...I'm going to check bloggers who have left comments on other posts. Fun idea. Thanks!

Is that really you next to the bus?

I do like magic, but I dated a girl once that liked doing magic tricks and she was really creepy.

Connie said...

I'm fascinated with magic! Let's see how this works!
BTW, sorry to disappoint you with my Honda post. I should have also included a picture of my son's "new" car, a non-stinky Honda Civic Si.
On my way to check out others.

Challenge accepted.

I'm game! I can't resist a challenge. :)

You create the coolest pictures! Love the magic dust! That would be neat to use on Disney photos!

Also, great idea! I'm going to visit others in Blogland now!

Teachinfourth said...

M - I did this today and it was a lot of fun. Good luck!

C - I think you'll like some of the stuff she has to offer.

A - Visit away. Hope you find something you will love to read.

K - That, my friend, was cool. Keep up the good acts of charity, girl!

A - Yep, that's me. Of course, that was also me about 20 lbs. heavier than I am now, but that's an entire blog post in itself.

Creepy girls are so not cool…

C - Anything Honda is quality, so that is totally cool. Thanks for coming back again…

S - I knew I could count on you!

N - Rock on!

A - I used it on another photo as well that I have yet to run the post on. It'll be run sometime in the future. It's all about The Salamander Box…

Leah Z said...

J - I think you should start ordering your replies such that the name initials spell something.

"A SMACK CAN"

Chronological is so fourth grade.

I sometimes do this just for fun anyway! Although when I find a blog I like and leave them a comment I go back to find they have put their blog private! Hahaha. Yeah, so I always wonder if it's a good idea to leave a comment with a complete stranger...although this time I'm going to tell them you sent me!

L said...

Teachinfourth and his challenges....perhaps you should make this a monthly feature. This is like the fourth one I believe since September.

Katie said...

I'm totally a blog stalker who never leaves comments. But I do love you blog.

Kelly said...

Got it! I love new commenters/followers. Nice idea.

Richard & Natalie said...

I love the pic and the idea.
I already do this all the time...yes, my name is Natalie, and I am a blog-stalker, so I will keep on keeping on.

Powdered Toast Man said...

Great idea! I thought of a similar idea but never processed the idea into a post. Let's see, what blog should I venture to....?

tiburon said...

OOO I am in! Love me some magic :)

Teachinfourth said...

L - I could do that…in fact, there was once when I think it said something kind of inappropriate. I ended up switching up a few comments so it was safe again.

C - So, you have a tendency to scare people away? And all this time I thought you were so PC… ;)

CC - Is it? I guess this comes from the fact that if I challenge other people to do it, I'm doing it as well. Progress reported is progress improved, right?

I think it's time for another contest, too…

K - Thanks for breaking the chain of silence and leaving a comment. You're well on your way to recovery. Just hope you don't have a relapse…

K - There'll be a few more people along the way you'll meet though this. I just met a few who all seem pretty cool.

N - That picture is TOTALLY real. That's real magic there, girl!

Stalk away. However, since I already knew you did that, it's not really a confession, is it?

J - Take your pick, there are a lot of good blogs to choose from.

T - I'll set you up…

J - Now who does that remind us both of? I should really take a photo of Kirst and add in some fairy dust for her.

Amanda said...

Love comments!! :D

Gerb said...

I came, I saw... and now I'll go stalk somewhere else.

Jamie said...

I have to say that I'm so happy at the moment. I've actually had some great comments and people have noticed my blog. It's a thrill and pleasure to be acknowledged. Thank you so much for this fun quest. I hope to return the favor for everyone. :)

I like this challenge. I've been trying to stick to the old challenge and have done pretty well with it, but I'm liking this challenge even better.

PS. I've got an amazingly funny story on my blog right now. So pick me! Pick me!

I have a hard time telling if my comment has gone through, so apologies is this is a duplicate.

Shannon said...

You've started something good Mr. Z - what a trendsetter you are! I've got comments and new followers...how can you be so diabolical and yet so kindhearted at the same time??

Krista said...

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog - sorry about my last post being a mom brag moment. I don't do that very often. I have something planned for Oh My Heck Wednesday....come back and visit then!

Teachinfourth said...

A - Amen, sister!

G - Thanks for coming by, Gerb. You, A, and I really need to head up to the Cheesecake Factory sometime for a little bit of goodness.

M - Thanks for taking part; now just keep paying it forward.

K - I'm headed over to your blog to check your post as soon as I finish up here.

S - It's a gift, Shannon, a pure gift. LOL. Just sharing the love…

K - I read it and, to be honest, didn't have anything to say; however, the next few were commentworthy…not that bragging is a bad thing, mind you.

I don't like Doug Henning at all and I kind of thought David Copperfield was okay until he got in trouble with the law and the honey's he was bringing to his vacation pad, but this kind of magic I like! I'm a total comment freak. Thanks for spreading non creepy magic!

Wow! I'm feeling the love. I had to scroll, scroll, scroll my way to the bottom after your string of comments. And all just to say, your photo with the fairy dust and your own magic school bus is super cool. What kind of tricks would I have to learn to get a picture like that on my blog? I'll comment every day for the answer.

tammy said...

How cool is that picture of you on the magic bus?

Fun idea.

Teachinfourth said...

S - Thanks for helping to spread it…

T - I love Cheeseboy's blog. Glad he happened upon my site one day sometime ago. Thanks for coming by as well.

M - Hunt away, there's a lot to choose from. I have a feeling that you didn't count only my blog as one of your finds either…

S - Comment away, here's to many coming your way as well.

S - Rock it. Find some new folks you never knew you loved this much until now.

M - Thanks for coming by. Hope you find some new reads.

S - I knew you'd be on it, girl!

J - Aren't we all 'comment freaks' though? It's all about feeling appreciated and recognized.

D - Thanks. The shot was taken in Addy.

O - Thanks for reading. If nobody reads what we write, it kind of takes away the thrill, you know?

J - As Covey would say, 'It's a win-win situation.'

R - Thanks for coming by and thanks for following. I just added that display on my blog recently; before it was hidden. Mostly because I thought it was kind of cluttered.

V - Here's to new reads!

F - A photo with a bus on it or magic dust? I guess it all depends on what you're looking for…that particular bus was a magic one you know…

T - I have no idea why that was on it in the first place, but when I saw it, I just couldn't resist. By the way, that's real magic, too...

mamahasspoken said...

WOW 42 comments, that's a lot!!! Oh and I'm already a creaper on many of your followers' blogs. Guess you're challenging me to come out and be heard....

There was the challenge in the fall to comment on every blog one visits during a two week spread, next was the turn off the tv for a week, then there was the take a photograph of oneself first thing in the am etc., and now this one.

I enjoy the challenges though. And yes you are right progress reported is progress improved, well that or room to grow.

And here I was, making my way over here to check you out (in a very bloggy, nonsexual way of course) and say thanks for stopping by my blog and what do I find? A sweet photo of you shooting sparkles!
So awesome.
Hmm... nice challenge! I'll see what I can do!! Because you're right, everyone loves a comment!

Hi, I am Shannon's sister and I also teach 4th grade!! Shannon first inspired me to start a blog and write regularly. She thinks very highly of you and your blog. I will now explore some of your posts for myself and find a few other bloggers to comment on! Have a great day!

B - Helping you find your voice?

A - I'm flattered that you came out of commenting darkness for me. Hope you come back and make yourself known again in the future.

A - I'm glad I stumbled across your blog. I think we have a lot in common.

S - When I saw that bus, I couldn't resist getting a photo on it. I figured that Ms. Frizzle couldn't have been very far awary.

T - Hope you get a slew your way.

R - There's plenty to stalk to. Hope you find one or two you love.

L - Technically, the 'photo of yourself first thing in the morning' wasn't really my challenge, I just took part in it.

Mostly to be funny.

As for the others? Well, I can only plead 'guilty as charged.'

S - Shooting magic from one's hands always tends to make them feel good inside. Thanks for stopping by, hope you come by again sometime soon.

D - Well, considering that I just talked to you on the phone, I suppose a comment without saying a whole lot is an okay thing.

O - It's good to see you again…I ended up with a reader full of sites, and was having a hard time getting around to them all. Glad I made it back to yours gain.

J - Everybody loves to be stalked in this way…so long as it doesn't turn into anything freaky, that is.

C - Here, there and everywhere?

B - Hope to see you come by again in the future. Thanks for liking it.

H - I'm absolutely flattered. In fact, I just stopped by her blog and read over her kind words. All I can say is that I don't think I deserve such high praise.

I don't take it lightly.

Super fun idea. Mostly because I was on the receiving end. But now I'm off to do it myself. I love getting comments. It would probably be good karma to send them out too.

On a completely random aside: Kelly, who commented earlier, occasionally comments on my blog and we have just discovered that we are food twins. We've never met. But one day we ate the exact same thing over several meals. And in between snacks. Freaky!

Nancy said...

Wow! You really know how to get bloggers involved. You're probably a great 4th grade teacher!!!

P.S. Natasha sent me your way. And I'm going to look at and comment on Ally's blog next because she put the link in her comment, which makes it oh-so-easy.

BTW, your photo reminds me of my spring school picture. I was able to have my picture taken in front of a huge watercolored bus. Yeah, baby, that photo is smokin'

Bee said...

Geez, you know I read your blog...

Teachinfourth said...

R - It's all about the love.

N - I try to be a good teacher, and on most days I think I succeed. Thanks for stopping by via Natasha.

F - Thanks for making your presence known, and I hope a few new folks clicked over your way.

J - Sometimes I just feel the need to throw a challenge out - especially when I feel like doing it myself.

Kind of like not feeling as bad about eating extra desserts if other people are doing it, too.

B - Wow, your photo sounds more like a glamour shot. Did you have yourself shrouded in boas and bubble wrap?

I'm glad you came by, I feel like you haven't been around for ages.

Hi!

First, I LOVE your blog and photos.

Secondly, I am (soon to be) a teacher too (finishing my degree) so love to meet other teachers out in the world.

Third, this is such a great idea to see meet other blogs and bloggers.

This is fun, thank you!

I'm late. I'm late. For a very important date.......or post.

Better late than never, right?

Anonymous said...

I'm with Mindy. Tardy, but still hoping for an e for effort. :)

I teach first grade, and stories like your Joey series are the reason I started blogging years ago. Then I quit because I didn't have quite enough material as I became a more seasoned teacher. Now I write about my silly experiences as a single thirty-something woman with a dog and 17 kids. I'm enjoying checking out your blog today. Thanks!
