Going South

Pin It The familiar squeal of the latch and the well-known squeak of hinges as the door swung open was a welcome to the house of the Monks - a place I’d felt a kinship to now for several years. I stepped over the threshold to the friendly chorus of Tanner’s screaming my name in greeting as he launched himself across the kitchen.

How could you not want to visit? This alone was worth the four hours it took just to get here…my place of refuge from the life I live northward.

How I’d missed being here. My summer had ended down here far too soon, and already the heat was topping 85 degrees in October.

Brilliant.

Upon my arrival I was ushered into the ‘villa’—as it was affectionately christened; an apartment built on the backside of the garage for just such occasions and visitors.

Excellent.

Will I have photos to share of this trip?

Possibly.

Will I be on the lookout?

Undoubtedly.

Will I be disappointed if I don’t get any?

Not at all.

I aim to enjoy this journey, enjoy it I will…after all; I only have a brief time before I must traverse the roads northward once-again to reality and life.

So enjoy it I will…

"Will I be disappointed if I don’t get any?

Not at all."

That question made me laugh out loud. I wasn't thinkin' about pictures I guess.

Eighty-five degrees in October would be splendid. Now wonder you call that region home. Hope you enjoy your time spent there!

G - Not too many adventures, but there were some fun times...

B - It was a lot of fun; I'm glad that I was able to go.

N - I did.

K - When I get around to going through the photos I took, I'll upload a few; however, I didn't take a whole lot while I was down there.

M - It was a fun trip.

J - It was great to see the friends I had down south; it'd been awhile since I'd traveled down there.

L - Fun in the sun; I didn't get a whole lot of hiking in, but that wasn't the reason I was headed down. Life is still good.

I wasn't able to express much when I saw you, but it wasn't until last week that I was made aware of your summer. Jason, I'm terribly sorry. TRULY. It does get better. It's been almost 4 years since my own personal Hell came to pass. It's still quite difficult at times, but it's not a constant ache anymore. I hope you're doing well. Don't be surprised if it the anger and pain pop in to say hello once in a while....it's part of the deal. I won't drag on any longer. I simply wanted to express my deep heartfelt understanding. Take care of yourself. -J

J - Thanks...I know that it will probably last a long time, but it's good to know that it will become less and less painful over time.

T - It was great...

L - You can most definitely say that again! Your trip looked like it was great.

S - It was quite the renewal; of course the migraine today wasn't quite so hot, but that's a small price to pay for the great break.

R - Tell you what, I'll post one of the 'smaller ones' tonight. Hope you're all feeling back up to health soon. BTW, I called Matt a "native" today in the hallway - he just grinned. I wonder if he worries that I'm garnering too much information...

You know what? You could call Matthew a gomer and he'd just grin at you. You're like up there with the coolest Poke'mon EVER! :)

Kids are SO awesome! I wish adults didn't look silly when they show the exuberance of a child... because I find myself acting like one at times (LOL - a constant battle to be honest!).

I wish adult friends would just let themselves get excited and scream my name in cheerful greeting as they see me. :D

Don't freak if I ever (in one of our lengthy reunions... all at funerals so far - hmm...) lose self control and do that to you. That's always just how I feel inside after not seeing a close friend for a long time. he he :D

Grrr! I'm so ticked. I saved your link in my page and for the last month, I've wondered why you hadn't posted anything. Then, I realized, I saved only the post page of the day and not the blog. Such a blonde moment!

But yay! I get to catch up.

R - Wait...is that a good thing?

C - Don't we all at times?

J - I'm just flattered that you felt I was worth linking to...thanks for coming back.
