I have never seen a parking stall like that... Is that a makeshift car port?... Hope u don't have an HOA, otherwise, I can see a letter of complaint against that yellow line.. Too bad that truck isn't parked near a hydrant then u could call parking enforcement... *wink, wink*....

Way to take things into your own hands there Jason!

Way to go Jason!
Me I would have complained and complained to management as I got madder and madder at the person who kept parking in that spot....

A parking spot with a pole in the middle? Now that's just stupid. Good for you for taking a stand! =)

Sometimes you just have to draw the line. This just makes up for the loss of space on the right side of your parking area because of the vertical support...great job.

Bravo, good sir! BRAVO! Now that I have a parking situation similar to yours I can completely understand your frustration. I applaud you for taking matters into your own hands to remedy the situation!

Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

Way to show that Jerk-face.

Very interested to know how the property management takes this. They HAVE to realize that it's a ridiculously small area you were given. It should have been the assigned spot for that scooter.

You didn't?!?

Oh, PLEASE say you did.

You're a wise man! I hate those parking stalls with the posts. My daughters live in condos with these. I promise, I don't take up all the room when I visit.

Ooooh! Graffiti! I love it! I have some red spray paint. Want some help????

We could spray the pole red! If you're going to own a pole....you might as well have some fun with it!!

Wow, good job, J... I can understand why you would want to make that line with your new car and all!

Nice work! Seriously managers do JACK when you have a need. I love Kristina P's comment LOL BOOYAH!!

Good for you! This is craziness that they even have the lines drawn that way to begin with under that awning!! WTH? I'd say you've taught us an important lesson today: never underestimate what a good can of yellow (or orange) spraypaint can do!

Good job. The parking police!

Oh for the LOVE! Serio? Someone parks a truck like that?

Good to see you take matters into your own hands. That-a-boy!

A guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do. Bravo!

That was pretty much awesome. You tag a straight line, or is it photoshopped?

Teachinfourth said...

The line is really real. I sprayed it. It's a bit crooked at the end. In the second shot I added in the truck. It wasn't there when I shot the image.

What a horrible parking spot you were getting stuck with. I'm glad you changed your circumstances! Good on you...wooohooo!

tiburon said...

Okay you were totally getting the shaft. I could not be more proud of you for taking matters into your own hands.

Well played Z. Well played.

New reader here... and I always love a diagram. And a renegade line draw-er for that matter.

One word. Awesome. Simply Awesome. Wait, that was three words. Plus, the comment about owning a pole and having fun with it? HILARIOUS!

Jenny said...

way to go! Think this trick would work for a cross walk near my home? Since the city can't seem to get it done.

Love your facial expressions in those photos. Admittedly, I am looking forward to hearing whether there are any scandalous acts that result from your 'rebel with a cause' behavior!

Way to take matters into your own hands. Next time get a little over spray on their car.

This is just preparing you to share a garage with teenagers. I drive a Yukon XL - basically a land-based aircraft carrier. My daughter drives a Toyota Camry. And yet, invariably, if she pulls into the garage first, I'm left with enough space - if I work through some quantum equations and offer some kind of bribe to the parking gods - to park a skateboard. On its side. After first removing the wheels.

Mindee@ourfrontdoor said...

Brilliant solution. Probably much more effective than just complaining about it, huh?

Jason, as himself said...

Good for you! I can't believe your space really has a pole in it. Either you drive a Smart Car or a moped. Which is it?

Teachinfourth said...

I threw a little dirt over it so it doesn't stand out so much…I didn't wan to draw TOO much attention.

Jason - I don't have either so this space was a bit too small...

I've been gone this past week - THIS IS HILARIOUS!!!
Welcome back to blogland for me - I love it!!
You are a crack up!

Charlotte said...

You have to wonder about the original thinking. Lets space the lines so there is a pole in the middle of the parking spot?!? I know, "original" and "thinking" both seem out of place in that sentence.

You are my kind of man, Mr. Z!

YAY for you taking action rather than being bitter. I hope you sprayed the old line black so they don't mistake the old line for the actual line.

I had a space like this in college. On my right was a pole and on my left was a cinderblock wall. The guy in the stall to my right always parked over the line (his car's butt was in my space). Eventually I took out my passenger's side mirror trying to miss hitting HIS car. My sweet hubby (fiance at the time) bought me a new mirror for my birthday. So, I started parking in the back of the property. It WAS 2 parking spaces when I started parking there. Then the landlords rented out those "extra" spaces to a neighboring apartment complex and made them into 3 spaces. 3 could fit if everyone's doors slid like in on a minivan. No one could actually open their doors. I dislike cheapskate landlords.
