Moments with Joey - Marriage

SCENE 1, INTERIOR. AFTERNOON, HALLWAY. The teacher is walking in with the class from recess; as the students stop in at the restroom, and to get drinks from the fountain, one fifth grade boy sidles up to his teacher.

JOEY: Mr. Z, are you married?

TEACHER: Joey, for the last time…stop asking me. I will NOT marry you...

[The teacher starts laughing].

JOEY: Well, if you aren’t, don’t EVER get married.

[Pause].

JOEY: All girls ever do is nag, nag, nag…

TEACHER: You’re still pretty young, Joey, how would you know this?

JOEY: My dad told me.

[Pause].

JOEY: And boy, does my mom ever

[Fade to black].

Oh, and I did post over at Four Perspectives today.

K - To tell you the truth, it caught me off-guard. But perspective usually changes as kids grow up, too.

C - Yeah, she usually does. However, I know that this is simply because he's ten. It did make me laugh though.

If parents knew all the things their kids tell teachers, more people would homeschool!

I'm with Mindee! I've told parents before that I would believe only half of what they tell me about them if they believe only half what they tell them about me.

May I slap the father for speaking so of his wife to his son?

We don't nag. We ask/tell passionately repeatedly. There's a difference. Duh!

Ah...the simplistic perspective of a fifth grade boy. I am sure my son will gain all sorts of complexity now that he is going into middle school.

[The mom starts laughing.}

You know if the menfolk just did what needed to be done, then us women wouldn't need to nag. RIght?

Love Joey - hope this is the new school year Joey, he could be FUN!

That Joey is a wise boy. Just wait until he hits 10th grade.

There wouldn't have to be nagging if the boys just got on the ball and did it the first time they were asked!!!

Is this this year's Joey or is it still stories from last year?

That better not have been Max! :)

I once was told that I was a good wife because I wasn't naggy...I guess I am not doing my job right. ;)

Yaaaahhhhh...... Don't get me started on the whole "marriage thing"...blah.

By the way, I agree that "5th grade is the Bomb".

It is a woman's right to nag just as it is a man's right to ignore...at least that's how it works in our house!
