This + That = Oops

Pin It It was a gloriously wonderful idea.

It was so fantastic that I went out immediately and bought the fog machine from my local Walmart. You see, I was going to turn my classroom into a perfect graveyard of buried hopes and dreams for the school Halloween parade.

It would be simply brilliant.

I arrived early and plugged the fog machine in. In just a few minutes, beautiful plumes of ashen fog began to waft about the room.

That’s about the time the fire alarm was triggered; the warning bell screamed in the hallways and classrooms like an air raid siren.

The office immediately tried to turn off the alarm. For some reason, the number 4 button wouldn’t cooperate on the master control panel, therefore, the alarm continued to scream throughout the school and playground.

The fire trucks arrived.

Ah, the death of a brilliant idea.

Lesson learned.

I’m just glad that I tried my idea before the Halloween parade…

Oh, and don't forget that tomorrow is the last day to order your very own Joey Dosen't Like Kittys shirt.

Yikes! Did they charge you $$$ for your foggy idea? We've had two fire drills in the last three days at my school. Only they weren't drills - they were the result of the city's plumbing system sending too much pressure through our pipes, nearly setting the sprinklers off. Our principal was bummed that she couldn't count them on November's fire drill practice. And she mumbled (into the PA system) "I wonder how much this is going to cost." It is something awe inspiring to see the fire trucks arrive within minutes, screaming around the corner, coming to make sure we're ok. Kinda makes your heart swell with pride and gratefulness.

Sorry......I just can't stop laughing.......Oh well, at least you know the fire department will show up at YOUR school. Whenever the alarm goes off at my school, they show up at the high school since we are on the same phone system......

Boy, that would have been awesome! Sorry it did not work out.

I'm with the other poster; too bad Joey wasn't there to help!

A little excitement in an elementary school never hurt anyone!
Great idea, too bad it really was a graveyard of buried hopes and dreams!

Thanks for the laugh. I hope the principal thought it was funny too!

Are you serious? Ahh, what a bummer! What did your principal say?

Luckily the principal was pretty cool about it and said something to the effect of, "It could have happened to anyone."

Another teacher thanked me for 'testing it out' because they'd brought a fog machine as well and my little mistake saved them from making the same one.

I'm glad that my pain could bring someone else pleasure.

Sad day! That would have been so fun to have a fog machine in school.

Your perfect graveyard of buried hopes (great Anne reference, btw!) was not to be had after all...

That is actually pretty funny when you think about it. Great idea though!!

That's just about the best thing I've read all day! LOL!

That's interesting that your fog machine set off the fire alarm. I used a fog machine several times during October and it never set off the alarm. :) Maybe it was operator error. ;)

Things like this always seem to be so much funnier when they happen to somebody else...

Best.Story.Ever.

And TOTALLY something that would have happened to me. I am soooo glad I didn't go into teaching. I would have ended up doing the same thing ;)
