Neighbors

Pin It The crickets chirp tonight in perfect orchestra. Their sounds are intermingled with the wind as it courses its way through the branches of the trees in the park. It’s a soothing sound as I get ready for sleep.

As I opened my window, I heard voices coming from the yard next door.

It was only a few weeks ago that my friends who’d lived there moved. Someone new must have moved in.

As the voices silent themselves, the crickets continue their song and I wonder…are these new friends yet waiting to be made?

I don’t hear a barking dog yet…so far, the outlook is good.

I hope they are as nice as mine. I have some wonderful neighbors, and it makes all the difference.

Crossing my fingers that they are good neighbors! Not-so-good ones make life really hard at times. One of my neighbors (not J.O.!) loves my husband and hates me. She sends me mean emails about my "trashy barbeque" (it's Lee's barbeque but whatever.) and leaves post-it notes on my door telling ME to weed my backyard because a weed is blocking her sprinkler (which were for some reason installed on our property and she refuses to pay to have them moved). Yeah, she's a joy. I've given up trying to figure out what I did. I just try to be pleasant but boy, it's not easy! Good luck with your new neighbors.

I hope my neighbors like my dog! And my music all weekend.

Nettle - Turns out they were just relatives staying the night in the empty house.

Cari - Gotta love some of those neighbors. My neighbor/friend, Marc, brought over homemade chili and bread he'd made from some other country tonight. Good stuff and good neighbor. Wish you had one a bit more like that.

Emmy - Good thing we're only 4 blocks apart...I think that that still qualifies you as a 'neighbor.'

Kris - You party animal...
