This, that, and the other

Pin It It’s been an eventful week.

Sorry I have been away for a few days.

To be honest, I missed you all. I missed writing. After all, it seems that I don’t write anymore unless it is for work or for blogging.

While I won’t try to sugar-coat anything, I do know that many of you are curious as to what happened this weekend up at Sundance. While my sister tended to focus on the positive end of the experience, I instead decided to attend a pity party where all of the presents were for me.

I shut off my phone for two days.

I didn’t head to the blogging world to read up on anyone

If I’m being honest, a part of this was because of just being tired. Another part was because I had a lot to say, but didn’t feel like writing any of it down. The final part is that I just wanted a break for a few days.

Oh, and the amount of sales this weekend didn’t even cover the cost of the fee to have ‘spot’ up at Sundance.

There, with all of that said and done, let us instead move on to much more interesting things…such as the website.

So, will it REALLY be ready on Saturday like I promised?

To be honest, I don’t know. I look at it and there are a lot of empty spaces still. I am a bit nervous about that. I need to get a few more items uploaded (and written) so that will undoubtedly be tomorrow’s endeavor as I don’t feel much like working on it today.

Tonight I instead am listening to Nickel Creek and baking cookies.

Yeah, I’m so domestic, aren’t I?

Actually, the cookies are not for me. They are for a class who is bound and determined to have 100% of them turn in completed assignments. After trying for over a month, they finally did it for the first time today. You could feel the excitement in the room…mostly because they all broke into cheers and there was a lot of high-fives being passed around—as well as praise being slogged in every direction.

Ah, the subtle ways of a teacher to get his students to do their homework.

I just hope the ball continues to roll and does not lose the momentum it has now gained.

Time will undoubtedly tell as today slips into tomorrow.

I have nothing else to say as of the time being. However, I am still hopeful that the website will do something…

What?

Make tons of money of course…

I’d also like a rocket…

Perhaps a nice, big bag full of gold too…

Maybe a pony…

I've missed you, but I commend you for taking a nice break. I wish I could have come up to Sundance but I had to work both nights! Anyway, I know I always say it but I am going to cook you dinner one night. You bring your cookies and I'll make the food, deal? I'm such a bad friend but I think about you all the time. I can't wait to see your website up; I am going to buy that car picture!!!

You've heard the phrase, "poor, starving artist". Well, there you go. I certainly don't blame you for the pity party.

But you did it. Take advantage of other opportunities as they come and you will be successful.

Sorry to hear the Market weekend was lousy. Chalk it up to the weather. You did take that first step. Besides your forthcoming website, is there any other place to see your work? We are both interested.

I TOTALLY understand your pity party. When we opened our first night for our BofM Theatre Festival we had about 3 cast members for every person in the audience. MANY nights we fought the weather. A couple of times we had to give people their $ back because the weather got too bad and we had to stop. After 3 years of losing $ we were forced to quit.

This is why I have learned the VERY expensive lession.... ADVERTISE!!!!!!! It is the most important thing you can do for your business. You will get it back and then some given enough time.

It doesn't matter how awesome your product is if no one knows about it.

Sometimes rain is not so welcome, but it's almost always followed by a rainbow.

Watch for your rainbows - they're coming.

PS mmmm...cookies.

Yes it was a crappy weekend between the bad weather and the lack of customers but I hope you won't give up on this. There really is no such thing as an overnight success....remember that. The Harvest Market is not the only thing out there if you don't want to try that venue again but I really do hope you can have your website up and running soon. I really do think you will have some traffic on your website due to this show.

Remember, no one did really good up there this year. You saw that for yourself so it isn't you or your work that is the problem...it really was the lousy weather that is to blame here.

I really do understand the need for a pity party though....

Z-Bot, I have not been keeping up on your blog, but tried to catch up today. So sorry about the festival, it sounds like it could have been really cool. Many people mentioned the weather as the reason for not being successful, but what about the stinkin' economy?!?!?!? That is what I am going with, I think people are scared to death and not wanting to let go of the almighty dollar. I hope in the very near future you will have great success, because YOU deserve it!!!! Have a groovy Thursday. Love you & miss you!!!!

In reading back, I noticed that I didn't respond to anyone back a year ago...I am such the jerk.

Nobody will probably read this comment, but just know that your concern was appreciated.

Bring on the cookies.

Ha ha. :) Yes, a year ago. I clicked on your photography link to see what you had posted on it. That is how I ended up here.

I'm interested in the topic. May I pick your brain?
