Photography - I let the music carry me

Pin It I have been going out the past few days with my iPod playlists a-blazing and it’s interesting just how long I’ll take photos, or where I’ll go so long as I have my music to carry me.

I have spent several hours out taking the images you see below. I even stepped on a water hole cover and had it turn on me, plunging my leg all the way to my knee down a hole. I even have the scratches to prove that I escaped certain death (okay, so the hole was only 10 inches in diameter).

So, has this all been worth it? Well, I’ll let you decide…

For an entry today I decided not to bore you with various and sundry details of my life, but instead to show a few of the photos I’ve taken this week with my new camera. Granted, I’ve only used it a few times, but I really like the photos.

What’s the secret?

Let the camera do all of the work…

I am pretty sure you're amazing. You ARE a big, screaming deal :)
I really like the red one with the red windows.

You didn't just let the music carry you, you've got the music in you...

A good friend of mine introduced me to that song and it changed my life.

My favorite photo is the barbed wire. It speaks to me of what once was. It's a softened version of once harsh limitations. A sharp memory of past confinement. The beautiful backdrop of greenery for the wire means newness that cannot be contained and the centrality of light means hope to me. T.

Awesome. If I go buy one of those cameras, can I take pictures like that, too?

(The sad truth = no.)

Shoe - Some of them turned out really nice. I really like "Locked Doors" myself...there are a few others I haven't posted yet, but will eventually get around to it.

Emmy - I love that one too. Believe it or not, it's across the street from the 7-11 here in Provo.

Anonymous - I LOVE that song too! "This whole world can fall apart, you'll be okay, follow your heart."

Gerb - I'm pretty sure it does some with some kind of guarantee with the price...oh wait, that's extra.

So, these were taken around Provo? Pretty amazing the beautiful things you can find when you take the time to look.

Chris - Thanks.

Cari - I heard a man once say that success is measured in millimeters, not in miles. He was referring to photography and how a slight image "shift" or zoom can make all of the difference in the world.

Sometimes we need to direct our eyes off the familiar roads in order to see what was always really there.
